5 Ways 5-Hour Energy Messes with Yo Mind
BuzzFeedYesterday, it was discovered that the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces for the Philippines, Gregorio Pio P. Catapung Jr. is addicted to the energy-shot, 5-Hour Energy. Sources say on bad days Catapung will have up to four, 5-Hour Energy Shots, when the company highly advises that individuals not drink more than two in 24 hours.
In a later statement, Catapung Jr. admitted, "Yes. The battle with 5-Hour Energy has been a long winding, up and down journey. I would like the public to know, however, that I am on the road to recovery, and planning on being 5-Hour Energy independent in the next few months."
Wow? Really, Catapung? A 5-Hour Energy addiction? I guess that would explain the madness you've demonstrated in your office, and the fact that your people see you bouncing off the walls and crashing, more than they're seeing any progress.
But, at least it isn't a drug or alcohol addiction, right? But does it even matter if it isn't? Apparently so. BuzzFeed researched the side effects of a 5-Hour Energy addiction, and here are the best five we found.
1. Face Turning Red
Wait, so is Catapung just flustered half of the time, or is he buzzing off of 5-Hour Energies?
2. Numbness and Sluggishness of the Arms and Legs
This would explain why he spends most of his time sitting on his ass.
3. Cold Sweats
Hey, if you can own it, then #WERKIT.
4. Nervousness and/or Anxiety Issues
People say they take 5-Hour Energy to relax. We call bullshit.
5. And in worst cases, DEATH.
Over 13 people have died since 2006 from consumption or addiction to the popular energy drink.
We're glad you're on the road to recovery, Catapung. Best of luck from your BuzzFeed buddies.
