Haiphong Offensive by China Fails, Vietnam Activates Entire Military Force
China's latest invasion of Vietnam on Haiphong via Ha Long Bay has failed, with four batallions having faced severe causalties, and were unable to retreat with the rest of the invading force. Chinese casualties and prisoners are in the thousands, with at least 600 killed.
The Chinese invading force faced nearly 25,000 Vietnamese forces deployed to protect the city of Haiphong, home to over 2 million Vietnamese residents. Numbers on civilian casualties are unknown.
Vietnam has announced that its entire reserve military force on reserve is now activated, with over 3.5 million Vietnamese soldiers activated throughout the country. The Communist Party is also calling upon its 4 million active party members to also contribute to civilian militias, with all state operated colleges and schools suspending operations in preparations of the war effort.
No foreign country has currently been active in contributing to Vietnam's defense or China's invasion.
