Philippines Blames U.S. for Defying Mutual Defense Treaty

Philippines Blames U.S. for Trying to Defy the Mutual Defense Treaty
The New York Times

In a tip to us, based off of the recent divide between the Philippines and Vietnam, the Philippines is turning to the United States to recognize the corruption and overlook of international treaties, which are affecting the outcome of the Philippine/Vietnam relations.

This morning, The New York Times received a concerned and informative message from Filipino Director of the General National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Ager P. Ontong Jr., that they wish to bring to light.

Higher officials from the Philippines are concerned in the lack of response from the United States, especially considering that Vietnamese aggression and intent towards controlling the Philippines would be a breach for the United States in regards to Article 5 of the Mutual Defense Treaty.

The Philippines pushes that the United States should be more involved, as this is Vietnam's way of also attacking the United States and involving them further in the issue.

United States officials have yet to respond.
