Press Statement from the Government of the United States

The United States of America condemns in the most unequivocable terms the terrible attacks on our foreign service personnel in the Philippines. Foreign Service officers play a crucial role in our nation’s foreign policy and are deeply valued by our government and citizens. This attack will not deter or change our military actions against Islamic extremists in the Philippines. We will continue to take whatever actions are necessary in order to ensure that these Islamic militants and their sympathizers do not gain undue influence.
