HANOI, VIETNAM -- Only days after the Chinese naval ship sinking near the Spratly Islands, demonstrations reach what many have determined to be it’s most violent state. Since the event took place, reports have been released confirming Vietnamese involvement, despite assurances from the Vietnamese government that they were in no way involved. The report outlines that a Chinese spy in Vietnam was involved in interactions with a high-ranking Vietnamese official.

As a result of distrust with the government, demonstrations continue throughout Vietnam. These demonstrations have now moved to cities throughout Vietnam and require a large response by government and city officials.

The most recent demonstrations come after the government brought a halt to initial demonstrations having to do with ethnic tensions between the Vietnamese and Hoa people. Despite promising efforts to subdue the demonstrations, they have now reached a size, which make them difficult for even the government to control. Ethnic tensions appear to still be the root cause behind the ongoing protests.

It is certain that the relationship between the Vietnamese and Hoa people will continue to change as more information regarding the Chinese naval ship sinking comes to light. Despite the ongoing demonstrations, officials continue to release sympathetic statements to China and the families of those who perished in the naval ship sinking.
