press
release from the President of the united states
Today, we were able to call the parents of the U.S.
Marine hostage to inform them that their child is returning to his home in
Texas.
As Commander-in-Chief, I am proud of the
servicemembers who recovered the Marine and the unwaivering dedication to their
fellow countrymen. Truly, its is their courage and professionalism that
allowed for the swift, successful operation.
Currently, our top priority
is making sure that the Marine and our service members receive proper care and
support during this time of recovery.
I am grateful for the support and cooperation of
all diplomats who have worked with us to ensure a smooth rescue operation. This operation would not have been
possible without the leadership and diligence of the U.S. Marine Corps
Commander. Further, we appreciate
the support and cooperation of the Government of the Philippines during this
trying time.
I am mindful,
though, that there are many men and women who have served this country who
remain missing. Because of them, we will never forget their sacrifices on
behalf of a grateful nation. We are eternally grateful for the
commitments of servicemembers, diplomats, and all those involved in the delicate
operation.
Thanks,
Obama
