Vietnamese Spy in Hanoi Granted Asylum

HANOI --
The Chinese Ambassador in Hanoi has reportedly offered political asylum to Major General Nguyen Quang Dam, Commander of the Marine Police Force. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has not yet made any comments regarding the matter, nor has President Xi Jinping. Reports from China are emerging that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may be in disarray.

Riots in Vietnam continue, with public untrust of the government leading to renewed protests in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Demonstrations outside of the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi have seen tens of thousands demonstrate in the streets of the Vietnamese capital. Chinese nationals have been encouraged to leave Vietnam immediately, but Chinese passport holders await government airlifts that have yet to arrive.

Ethnic Hoa Vietnamese congregating at the northern Vietnamese border have continued to face protests seeking out Hoa families in Hanoi and Haiphong.
